FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central,
northeast, south central, southeast, southwest, and west central
Mississippi, including the following areas, in central
Mississippi, Attala, Choctaw, Copiah, Hinds, Holmes, Leake,
Madison MS, Rankin, Scott, Simpson, Smith and Yazoo. In east
central Mississippi, Jasper, Kemper, Lauderdale, Neshoba, Newton,
Noxubee and Winston. In north central Mississippi, Carroll,
Grenada, Montgomery and Webster. In northeast Mississippi, Clay,
Lowndes and Oktibbeha. In south central Mississippi, Jefferson
Davis, Lawrence and Lincoln. In southeast Mississippi, Covington.
In southwest Mississippi, Adams, Claiborne, Franklin MS and
Jefferson. In west central Mississippi, Warren.
* WHEN...Through Thursday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are
possible.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Showers and thunderstorms with the potential to produce heavy
rainfall rates will move repeatedly across the watch area
from tonight through Thursday. Much of this rainfall will run
off and result in flash flooding of low-lying and poor
drainage areas. More impactful flooding could develop where
the heaviest rain falls.
