Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll
free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 AM EST THIS MORNING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by heavy rain and snowmelt continues.
* WHERE...Portions of southeast Ohio, including the following
counties, Athens, Gallia, Lawrence, Meigs and Washington and West
Virginia, including the following counties, Mason and Wood.
* WHEN...Until 1045 AM EST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams will
continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall and
snowmelt.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 309 AM EST, Excessive rainfall and snowmelt is causing
flooding. Up to 0.5 inches of rain has fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches possible in the
warned area.
- Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Parkersburg, Marietta, Belpre, Point Pleasant, Gallipolis,
Pomeroy, Rio Grande, Racine, Coolville, Rutland, Forked Run
State Park, Lake Vesuvius, Vienna, Williamstown, New Haven,
Mason, Tuppers Plains, Washington, Lubeck and Boaz.
