Ocmulgee River near Macon affecting Bibb, Jones, Houston, Twiggs
and Monroe Counties.
For the Ocmulgee River Basin...including Jackson, Juliette, Griffin,
Juliette, Macon, Dames Ferry, Macon, Clinchfield, Hawkinsville,
Hawkinsville, Byron, Abbeville, McRae, Scotland, Lumber City...Minor
flooding is forecast.
...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL SUNDAY AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Ocmulgee River near Macon.
* WHEN...Until Sunday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 21.0 feet, Minor flooding expands. An increasing
amount of the Macon GreenWay Ocmulgee Heritage Trail floods north
of the Martin Luther King Boulevard bridge. The flood waters will
be up to two feet deep on portions of the trail and both banks
overflow upstream from the bridge. Large portions of agricultural
lands east of Macon and well downstream will be under 1 to 4 feet
of water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:30 PM EST Friday the stage was 21.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 8:30 PM EST Friday was 21.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 21.1
feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below
flood stage late Sunday morning.
- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
21.1 feet on 03/01/1939.
