In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues along the
French Broad River near Fletcher.
* WHERE...Buncombe and Henderson Counties in North Carolina.
* WHEN...Until 100 PM EST.
* IMPACTS...Isolated farmland flooding across the French Broad River
Valley, from Etowah downstream to Avery Creek upstream of the
gauge site at Fletcher.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1010 AM EST, Minor flooding was occurring in low-lying and
poor drainage areas. River flows were elevated.
- Flood impacts will continue through midday, but no additional
rainfall is expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Arden, Mills River, Fletcher, Mountain Home and Avery Creek.
