In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EST THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues along the
French Broad River near Fletcher.
* WHERE...A portion of western North Carolina, including the
following counties, Buncombe and Henderson.
* WHEN...Until 600 PM EST.
* IMPACTS...Isolated farmland flooding across the French Broad River
Valley, from Etowah downstream to Avery Creek upstream of the
gauge site at Fletcher.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1226 PM EST, Minor flooding was occurring in low-lying and
poor drainage areas. River flows were elevated. The river is
taking longer to recede than originally forecast, so the
Flood Advisory has been extended.
- Flooding impacts will continue through this afternoon, but no
additional rainfall is expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Arden, Mills River, Fletcher, Mountain Home and Avery Creek.
