Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Georgia... Ocmulgee River near Macon affecting Monroe, Bibb, Twiggs, Houston and Jones Counties. For the Ocmulgee River Basin...including Macon...Minor flooding is forecast. ...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL TOMORROW AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Ocmulgee River near Macon. * WHEN...Until tomorrow afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, Minor flooding continues. The Macon Greenway Ocmulgee Heritage Trail will begin to flood in areas just north of the Martin Luther King Boulevard bridge. The public should not use this portion of the trail. In addition...the lowest sections of the Charles Jones Gateway Park will flood. Portions of agricultural lands well downstream will be under two feet of water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:30 PM EST Monday the stage was 19.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:30 PM EST Monday was 19.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage late tomorrow morning and continue falling to 13.1 feet Saturday evening. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 19.5 feet on 02/16/1997. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood &&
