WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 4 AM PST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet, locally up to 3 feet at mountain peaks. Southerly winds gusting as high as 65 mph. * WHERE...Western Plumas County/Lassen Park and West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada, including Interstate 80 over Donner Pass and Highway 50 over Echo Summit. * WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 4 AM PST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult to impossible from travel delays, snow covered roads, and reduced visibility at times, with possible chain controls and road closures. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches and telephone poles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels of 6000 to 7000 feet on Wednesday, lowering to 4000 to 5000 feet on Thursday, and as low as 3500 feet by Friday morning. Heaviest snowfall accumulations expected above 6000 feet. Snow rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour, heaviest tonight into Thursday morning.
