SNOW FOR THE NORTHERN PANHANDLE...
.Moist southerly flow will override cool outflow winds in the
north bringing snow Wednesday into Thursday afternoon. Expect
snow to begin late Wednesday morning, with the heaviest rates
expected overnight into Thursday morning. If outflow winds are
not as persistent, we could see a rain/snow mix for Juneau and
Icy Strait, severely impacting snow totals.
...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS
AFTERNOON TO 3 PM AKST THURSDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to
11 inches for Haines and Skagway. Snow accumulations of 9 to
14 inches are expected for Juneau. Winds gusting as high as 40
mph.
* WHERE...Municipality of Skagway, Haines Borough and Klukwan
and City and Borough of Juneau.
* WHEN...From 3 PM Wednesday to 3 PM AKST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult and is discouraged unless
it is an emergency. The hazardous conditions could impact the
morning or evening commute. Heaviest snowfall rates will be
between 3 pm and Midnight.
