Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by snowmelt continues.
* WHERE...A portion of north central Nebraska, including the
following county, Holt.
* WHEN...Until 1015 PM CST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 932 AM CST, - At 845 AM CST, river gauges on the Elkhorn
River near Atkinson and O'Neill were around a half a foot
above flood stage. River levels are expected to remain above
flood stage, falling to below flood stage Thursday evening.
Local law enforcement reports minor flooding is underway in
the advisory area. Flood waters have encroached upon Highway
20, 3 miles west of Stuart and the Elkhorn River was out of
its banks and causing overland flooding south of O'Neill.
