POTENTIALLY IMPACTFUL SNOW FRIDAY INTO THE WEEKEND... .A gale force front is bringing widespread moderate to heavy precipitation to the northern panhandle and NE gulf coast and will last into Saturday. With cold air in place, precipitation has started as snow before gradually transitioning to a mix as the surface front turns winds more southerly and brings up surface temperatures. Any stalling of the surface front will lead to a later transition to mixed precipitation, resulting in greater storm total snow accumulation. An earlier wind shift and warm up would result in an earlier change to rain. Stay tuned for the latest forecast information on this developing system. * WHAT...Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. * WHERE...Glacier Bay and Eastern Chichagof Island. * WHEN...Until 9 PM AKST this evening. * IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heaviest snow fall expect between 9 am and 9 pm.
