IMPACTFUL SNOW CONTINUES INTO THE WEEKEND... .Widespread moderate precipitation continues across the NE gulf coast and majority of the panhandle. With cold air in place, precipitation started as snow before gradually transitioning to a mix as the surface front turns winds more southerly and brings up surface temperatures. Any stalling of the surface front for the Icy Strait corridor or northern inner channels will lead to later transition to a more rain heavy mix, resulting in greater storm total snow accumulation overnight and into Saturday. Stay tuned for the latest forecast information on this complex system. * WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 10 inches. * WHERE...City and Borough of Juneau. * WHEN...Until 9 AM AKST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heaviest precip rates are expected through this evening. As of this afternoon precipitation has begun to mix. If this continues, snowfall totals will be lowered.
