The National Weather Service in Peachtree City GA has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Georgia... Oconee River at Milledgeville affecting Baldwin, Wilkinson and Washington Counties. For the Oconee River Basin...including Milledgeville...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Oconee River at Milledgeville. * WHEN...From Saturday afternoon to Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding occurs upstream and downstream from the gage located around one half mile upstream from the Georgia Highway 22 and 24 bridge. Low lying portions of woodlands and pasture in the natural flood plain will begin to flood. This will include portions of the sidewalks in the Oconee River Greenway Park just downstream from the bridge. Sinclair Dam will have one to two gates open to reach this height. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:30 PM EST Thursday the stage was 20.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage Saturday afternoon to a crest of 24.5 feet early Sunday morning.
