This will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel very hazardous. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you.If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
At 425 PM MST, radar indicated thunderstorms were developing across the region. Conditions are favorable through 630pm for the continued development of strong thunderstorms with gusty winds and small hail. Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail will be possible with the strongest storms. Locations impacted include... Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Tempe, Apache Junction, Florence, Fountain Hills, Paradise Valley, Superior, East Mesa, Gold Canyon, Sugarloaf Mountain, New River, Ballantine Trailhead, Queen Creek, Cave Creek, and Carefree. This includes the following highways... AZ Interstate 17 between mile markers 210 and 241. AZ Route 51 between mile markers 5 and 15. US Highway 60 between mile markers 176 and 231. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
