to take action should flooding develop.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the
following areas, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates,
Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Western
Currituck and southeast Virginia, including the following areas,
Chesapeake, Greensville, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James
City, Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk,
Surry, Sussex, Virginia Beach and York.
* WHEN...From this evening through Thursday evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A surface low pressure will develop ahead of a cold front and
result in heavy rainfall later Wednesday evening through the
day on Thursday. A swath of 3 to 3.5 inches of rain is
expected to fall across southeast Virginia and northeast
North Carolina, with locally higher amounts up to 4 to 4.5
inches possible. This could result in instances of flooding
across the Watch area.
