may already be occurring. Persons along rivers and streams in the
warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and
property.
These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as
forecast precipitation 24 hours into the future. Changes to the
rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 24 hours, may
cause changes to these river forecasts.

At 1041 AM EDT...An area of heavy snow was near York, or 10 miles
northeast of Kittery...moving north AT 40 MPH.
Locations impacted include...
Portland, Rochester, South Portland, Biddeford, Portsmouth,
Brunswick, Westbrook, Hampton, Durham, Exeter, Kittery, Alfred,
Sanford, Northwood, Ossipee, Dover, Cumberland, Saco, Gorham, and
Somersworth.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 295 between mile markers 1 and 27.
Interstate 95 between mile markers 1 and 70.
Interstate 95 in New Hampshire between mile markers 0 and 16.
This also includes...
Sebago Lake, Hampton Beach, York Beach, Ogunquit Beach, and Wells
Beach.
Peaks Island, Long Island, Cushing Island, Cousins Island, and
Bailey Island.
* Winds in excess of 45 mph are occuring with this area of heavy
snow.
* Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a quarter mile in
this area of heavy snow.
* Sudden and brief snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are
possible in this area of heavy snow.
Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time when traveling.
