Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
* WHAT...Minor flooding caused by upstream Vanceboro dam release is expected. * WHERE...A portion of DownEast Maine, including the following county, Washington. * WHEN...Until 230 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding of low lying properties on Salmon Brook Road in Vanceboro. Possible minor flooding at camps along the St. Croix River on Loon Bay Road in Lambert Lake Township and Dyer Township. Additional minor flooding in rural areas of Eastern Washington County above the Grand Falls Flowage is expected. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1006 AM EDT, an upstream floodgate release at Vanceboro is expected to cause minor flooding in the advisory area. - As of 9:45AM EDT the flow being released from the Vanceboro Dam is 5943 cfs. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
