If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Visit water.weather.gov for additional water level and flood impact information. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to one half foot of inundation above ground level along shorelines and tidal waterways (7.1 to 7.3 feet Mean Lower Low Water at Charleston). For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents expected. * WHERE...Coastal Colleton County. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until midnight EDT tonight. For the High Rip Current Risk, from 8 AM EDT Thursday through Thursday evening. * IMPACTS...This could result in some roads becoming impassable. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High tide will occur around 10:24 PM today at Charleston. Saltwater inundation will be possible 1 to 2 hours before and after high tide.
