A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 800 PM CDT for southeastern
and east central Iowa.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
At 456 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Jones County Fairgrounds to near Hale to Bennett,
moving east at 50 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Trained weather spotters.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Tipton, West Branch, Durant, Mechanicsville, Stanwood, West Liberty,
Wilton, Walcott, Lowden, Wheatland, Olin, Wyoming, Oxford Junction,
Lost Nation, Bennett, Atalissa, Onslow, Monmouth, Toronto, and
Morley.
This includes Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 251 and 285.
