Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
Patchy dense fog is being observed across southern CT, Long Island
and portions of NYC and the Lower Hudson Valley, where
visibilitiescan be as low as a quarter of a mile at times. The
dense fog is expected to remain patchy, with visibilities likely
improving by 9AM.
Use caution if traveling this morning. Use low-beam headlights and
leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle in front of
you.
