Flood Warning for the following rivers in Georgia...
Coosawattee River near Ellijay affecting Gilmer County.
For the Coosawattee River Basin...including Ellijay, Ellijay,
Ellijay, Talking Rock, Hinton, Carters, Pine Chapel, Pine Chapel...
Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
forecast.
* WHERE...Coosawattee River near Ellijay.
* WHEN...From early this morning to late this afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 10 feet, Moderate flooding begins. Flood water
surrounds the American Legion Post 82 on Legion Road...and affects
the Georgia Power Substation next to the Post. Significant
flooding expands over the Harold Hefner River Park...including the
athletic fields and walking trail.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 4:00 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 8.2 feet and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 10.3
feet this morning. It will then fall below flood stage late
this morning.
- Flood stage is 8 feet.
