Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
Patchy dense fog is being observed in parts of interior Southern
Connecticut and within parts of the Lower Hudson Valley and will
likely persist until 8am. Motorists should be prepared for rapid
changes in visibility while driving in these areas early this
morning. Visibilities within the patchy dense fog will be down to
a quarter mile or less.
If driving this morning, slow down and keep your distance from
vehicles in front of you. Make your vehicle is visible to others
on the roadway by using your low-beam headlights. Do not use your
high-beam headlights (brights) as they could make the visibility
worse.
