RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM FOR WESTERN, CENTRAL, AND
EASTERN NM DUE TO STRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY...
.Strong southwest winds and very low humidity has returned to most
areas of western, central, and eastern NM outside of the northern
mountains today. These southwest winds will turn west to
northwest behind a Pacific cold front crossing west to east
across the state late this afternoon and early evening before
winds begin diminishing later this evening. Fuel receptiveness has
been found to be low across eastern NM from observation stations
and in-person ground observations collected this morning.
Therefore, despite marginal westerly winds and low humidity
forecast Thursday, the Fire Weather Watch is cancelled.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has cancelled the
Fire Weather Watch.
* AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Highlands (Zone 103) and Northeast
Plains (Zone 104) until 9 PM MDT.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...11 to 15 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
