If you enter the surf zone, always have a flotation device with
you and swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax
and float, and do not swim against the current. If able, swim in
a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face
the shore and yell or wave for help.
Patchy dense fog has formed across eastern Illinois and
northwestern Indiana this morning. Visibility may fall below
one-quarter mile at times through early morning, leading to
potentially hazardous travel conditions.
Expect rapid changes in visibility over short distances. Be sure to
slow down if you encounter dense fog. Use low beam headlights if
driving, and leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle
ahead.
Fog is expected to erode by 8 AM CT / 9 AM ET this morning.
