Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most
flood deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...A portion of northern New Jersey, including the following
county, Somerset.
* WHEN...Until 100 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1019 AM EDT, gauge reports indicated an area of very heavy
rainfall across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of
rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in
the warned area.
- For Raritan River at Manville:
At 9:15am the stage was 9.62 feet.
Flood Stage is 14 feet.
For North Branch Raritan River at Raritan:
At 10:00am the stage was 8.47 feet.
Flood Stage is 10 feet.
For North Branch Raritan River at South Branch:
At 10:00am the stage was 8.06 feet.
Flood Stage is 8 feet.
