Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of east central Kansas, including the following
counties, Anderson, Coffey, Franklin and Osage.
* WHEN...Until 1100 AM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Rises in small streams. Overflowing poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 811 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Garnett, Burlington, Waverly, Richmond, Colony, New Strawn,
Gridley, Greeley, Westphalia, Kincaid, Lone Elm, Harris, Le
Roy and Garnett Airport.
- This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 159 and 167.
