Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air
Quality Advisory for Tuesday June 3, for elevated levels of
ozone. Pollutants are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive
Groups range.
The alert is in effect for the following Michigan Counties,
Mackinac Island/Bois Blanc Island, Eastern Mackinac, Western
Mackinac, Southeast Chippewa, Central Chippewa, and Western
Chippewa.
It is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor
activities, especially those with respiratory diseases such as
asthma.
People and businesses are urged to avoid activities which lead to
ozone formation. These activities include, refueling vehicles or
topping off when refueling, using gasoline powered lawn equipment,
and using charcoal lighter fluid.
Positive activities include, driving less, telecommuting, walking or
biking, delaying or combining errands and using water-based paints.
