At 342 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding is occurring in Sanford from earlier thunderstorms and excessive rainfall. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Sanford, Broadway, Gum Springs, Tramway, Cumnock and Lemon Springs. While the torrential rainfall has moved out of the Sanford area, light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue. The heaviest rainfall now stretches from south and west of Moncure to near Broadway.
