Walnut River at Winfield affecting Butler and Cowley Counties. ...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in Kansas... Slate Creek At Wellington affecting Cowley and Sumner Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Walnut River at Winfield. * WHEN...From this afternoon to Friday evening. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Flood waters flow over County Road Cowley 2 west of the city of Rock. Then 4 miles northwest of Winfield, Cowley County Road 18 floods over a section just west of 71st Road. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:46 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 16.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this afternoon to a crest of 19.9 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Friday morning. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
