You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...A portion of southeast West Virginia, including the
following areas, Summers and Western Greenbrier.
* WHEN...From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through this evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be
flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A backdoor cold front will provide a focus for storm
initiation later this afternoon. As storms develop, storm
motions will be very slow given the flow aloft is weak. This
combined with substantial moisture across the area will lead
to a flash flood threat across west central Virginia and
portions of WE West Virginia.
