Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most
flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...A portion of northern New Jersey, including the following
counties, Middlesex, Morris and Somerset.
* WHEN...Until 715 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is occurring across the warned area.
Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Expect many areas of
slow moving or standing water. It will take several hours for all
the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems
in urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 301 AM EDT, local law enforcement reported continued road
closures and flooding along Green Brook due to thunderstorms
Monday evening. Flooding is already occurring. Between 3 and
6 inches of rain have fallen.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
- Some locations that may experience flooding include...
New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Somerville, Somerset, Edison,
East Brunswick, Sayreville, North Brunswick, Carteret,
Madison, Middlesex and Florham Park.
