Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
At 738 AM CDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain
have fallen. 3 inches of rain in 1.5 hours was reported in Vinton.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. Standing water up
to six inches deep was reported in Vinton.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Cedar Rapids, Vinton, Marion, Hiawatha, Mount Vernon, Robins,
Jesup, Center Point, Fairfax, Ely, Atkins, Walford, Urbana,
Central City, Springville, Palo, Shellsburg, Newhall, Walker and
Van Horne.
This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 12 and 55.
