deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of DC, including the following , District of
Columbia, central Maryland, including the following counties,
Montgomery and Prince Georges, and northern Virginia, including
the following county, Fairfax.
* WHEN...Until 1130 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated
with water and may not be passable.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 830 PM EDT, Flood sensors on Sligo Creek at Sligo Creek
Parkway and New Hampshire Avenue show a 10 ft rise in 30
mins. due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly. Between 2 and 4.5 inches of rain have
fallen.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
