Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers
should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against
the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline.
If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 9 to
11 feet expected in the surf zone for Guam; and 9 to 14 feet for the
CNMI. For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents expected.
* WHERE...For the High Surf Advisory, south and west facing
reefs. For the High Rip Current Risk, east, south and west facing
reefs of the Marianas.
* WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 6 AM Sunday.
For the High Rip Current Risk, through late Saturday night.
* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best
swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The high risk of rip currents will start
on east facing reefs will end by tomorrow morning.
