Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers
should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against
the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline.
If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal flooding
of 1 to 3 feet. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves
of up to 12 feet expected in the surf zone. For the High Rip
Current Risk, dangerous rip currents.
* WHERE...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, south and west facing
reefs of Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. For the High Surf Advisory
and the High Rip Current Risk, south, west and north facing
reefs of Rota, Tinian, and Saipan.
* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Warning, until 6 PM ChST this
evening. For the High Surf Advisory, until 6 PM ChST Tuesday.
For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 6 PM this evening to 6 AM
ChST Monday. For the High Rip Current Risk, through Tuesday
afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated
road closures expected. Dangerous swimming and surfing
conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep
even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
