You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
This watch is based off of saturated soils as much as the threat
for heavy rainfall. Recent rains have left much of the area with
saturated soils that cannot handle a lot of rain. Rapid runoff is
likely with any heavy rain that can develop. Current expectations
are that some storms will be capable of producing 2-4 inches of rain
per hour which would lead to urban and small stream flooding issues.
This heavier rain is expected to occur in smaller bands so
confidence in exact location is still lower at this time.
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Portions of Iowa, including the following areas, Buena
Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Ida, O'Brien, Osceola, Plymouth,
Sioux and Woodbury, northeast Nebraska, including the following
area, Dakota, and southeast South Dakota, including the following
area, Union.
* WHEN...From 10 PM CDT this evening through Wednesday morning.
* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
