should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast New Mexico,
including the following areas, in east central New Mexico, De Baca
County, Guadalupe County and Quay County. In northeast New Mexico,
Eastern San Miguel County.
* WHEN...Through late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be
flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop
this afternoon and tonight as a moist backdoor front crosses
with rich monsoon moisture and a disturbance in the flow
aloft. Some thunderstorms will be capable of producing
torrential rainfall at rates potentially over 2 inches per
hour. Urban areas and locations where the ground is already
saturated from recent rainfall will be especially susceptible
to rapid runoff and flash flooding.
