Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.
* WHERE...A portion of east central South Dakota, including the
following county, Beadle.
* WHEN...Until 700 PM CDT Sunday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. County and
township roads may be closed or impassable due to flooding. It
will take several hours for all the water from these storms to
recede.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 654 AM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain and
flooded roads in the warned area due to overnight
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing. Between 3 and 9 inches of
rain are estimated to have fallen, with the heaviest amounts
in rural areas southeast of Hitchcock.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
