Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in North Carolina... Neuse River At Smithfield affecting Johnston County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Neuse River at Smithfield. * WHEN...Until tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, Minor flooding begins. Flooding begins along the Neuse Riverwalk. Water nears the base of the holding tank at the water treatment plant. At 18.0 feet, Moderate flooding begins. The Smithfield town park and the Neuse Riverwalk at the US70 bridge are flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:15 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 17.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow morning. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 18.9 feet on 09/17/2018. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
