Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
* WHAT...Continued flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected. This advisory will replace the Flash Flood Warning that
was in effect.
* WHERE...Portions of northeast Illinois, including the following
counties, Cook and DuPage and northwest Indiana, including the
following county, Lake IN.
* WHEN...Until 730 AM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Flooding may continue in poor drainage and urban areas,
including flooded underpasses, roads, and streets.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 428 AM CDT, Doppler radar and gauge estimates between 2
and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Scattered thunderstorms are
occurring over portions of the advisory area.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chicago, Naperville, Cicero, Hammond, Gary, Arlington
Heights, Schaumburg, Des Plaines, Orland Park, Oak Lawn,
Berwyn, Mount Prospect, Wheaton, Oak Park, Downers Grove,
Elmhurst, Lombard, Bartlett, Ohare Airport and Carol Stream.
