Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of south central Texas, including the following
counties, Kinney and Val Verde.
* WHEN...Until 100 PM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Some low-water crossings may become impassable.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 946 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Across Far
Southwestern Kinney County along highway 277 received 2 to 5
inches of rain earlier this morning. Over the past hour 0.5
to 1.5 inches of rain fell south of Laughlin AFB and this
activity could move into the region in Kinney County where
that heavier rain fell earlier this morning.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
