A rapidly strengthening storm-force low tracks north of Shemya
through Monday morning. A strong front will push eastward across
the Aleutian Chain starting tonight, reaching Adak by Monday
afternoon, and Unalaska by Tuesday morning. This front will bring
southerly winds gusting to 60 mph as it sweeps the Chain. Westerly
winds will fill in behind the front, gusting as high as 70 mph in
Adak Tuesday afternoon, reaching Nikolski by Wednesday morning.
Expect storm-force sustained winds to persist near Nikolski
through Wednesday morning as the low shifts eastward. Winds
diminish later Wednesday as the low center weakens and shifts
southeastward.
