A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
DRY AND WINDY CONDITIONS EXPECTED THROUGH THE CASCADE GAPS ON
THURSDAY...
.A dry cold front is expected to pass through the Pacific
Northwest late on Thursday. This, combined with the recent
warming trend in temperatures, will create dry and windy
conditions, especially through the Cascade Gaps, such as the
Kittitas Valley and the east slopes south into Oregon. These dry
and windy conditions will increase the risk of wildfire spread.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 690 Kittitas Valley and 695
East Washington South Central Cascade Mountains.
* TIMING...From 11 AM to 11 PM PDT Thursday.
* WINDS...Northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts 25 to 35 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 to 20 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread
quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
