Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.
* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 ft.
* WHERE...West and north facing reefs of Palau, west facing reefs
of Yap.
* WHEN...Until 6 AM ChST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Tropical Storm Bualoi has exited the
region, and west to northwest swell is diminishing across the
region. Hazardous surf has diminished below hazardous levels for
south facing reefs of Yap, and is expected to fall below
hazardous levels along north and west facing reefs of Palau, and
west facing reefs of Yap late overnight. Late Friday through
the weekend, an elevated north swell is expected to move through
the region, emanating from distant Typhoon Neoguri. This may
lead to hazardous surf along north facing reefs of Yap,
particularly around Sunday, and a new High Surf Advisory may be
issued within the next day or two. The incoming north swell will
be closely monitored for the possibility of hazardous surf
along north facing reefs of Palau as well.
