People are urged to secure vessels and loose objects that could
be blown around or damaged by the wind. Extra spring lines on
docked vessels are strongly encouraged. People planning a trip
onto the water on Friday should seriously consider staying in
port. Those in transit should seek safe harbor today.

* WHAT...Southeast winds 35 to 45 mph with wind gusts ranging
from 60 to 70 mph expected. Winds are expected to shift to the
south late morning to early afternoon.
* WHERE...Ketchikan Gateway Borough and Annette Island.
* WHEN...From 7 AM to 7 PM AKDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...High winds will blow around unsecured objects, blow
down trees and damage property. Power outages are possible. Travel
will be difficult.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind gusts have a chance to exceed 80 mph
near upper elevation sites on Annette Island, such as Yellow
Hill. As winds shift to the south, areas on the South Tongass
Highway around Mountain Point and areas past Point Higgins on
North Tongass Highway have the highest likelihood for strong
gusts.
