Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip
current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If
able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to
escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 9 to 12 feet in the surf zone and
dangerous rip currents.
* WHERE...For the Surf, south facing reefs and for the risk of rip
currents east and south facing reefs of the Marianas.
* WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best
swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...As Tropical Depression 32W passes southwest of
Guam, surf conditions are expected to deteriorate along south
facing reefs firsts then east reefs and eventually west reefs.
This, coupled with king tides, may produce minor runup along these
reefs.
