Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.
* WHAT...Hazardous surf of 10 to 14 ft and minor coastal flooding
of 1 to 2 ft expected.
* WHERE...North and west facing reefs.
* WHEN...Until 5 PM ChST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding in low-lying coastal areas. Dangerous
swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...As TS Fung-wong continues west-northwest to
the north of Yap this morning, surf will continue to rise along
north and then west facing reefs. Surf is expected to peak at 13
to 14 ft today and tonight before subsiding very slowly over
the weekend. Surf heights could reach dangerous levels of 15 ft
if Fung-wong intensifies faster than currently expected.
Increased surf paired with the King Tide high tide cycles will
also result in minor coastal inundation and increased erosion.
