Responsibilities

The Underwriting Services Representative is responsible for communicating over the phone and via webchat with agents regarding policy specific questions and processing policy changes from these channels of communication.

  • Answer agent's questions and process policy changes within your authority, while on the phone or chatting with an agent
  • Identify quickly when approval is needed from the Service Center Underwriting Consultant or when to direct to the Underwriting Unit
  • Have a good understanding of GUARD's Underwriting Appetite
  • Utilize the Department One Note Procedure Manual
  • Utilize GUARD Insurance Group System Software, Internet and Agency Service Center to answer the call or chat
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 2 years of previous customer service experience
  • Proficiency with computers and strong typing skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Capable of handling challenging interactions professionally and accurately
  • Strong multitasking skills, managing up to three web chats simultaneously
  • Team player with the ability to contribute to a positive team culture
  • Adaptability to evolving underwriting guidelines is essential
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible with work hours, as this team operates between 8:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday
