1 In 5 Texas Crashes Involves Distracted Driving

Friday, April 1st, 2016 Auto Liability

There are two things most people do every day — drive and text. TxDOT is making sure you understand, the two don’t mix and can become deadly. The department’s annual “Talk, Text, Crash” campaign is warning drivers about the dangers of distracted driving. The campaign reminds drivers, particularly college students, to put away their phones and refrain from other distractions while driving. Statewide, approximately one in five traffic crashes involves driver distraction. In Austin, 4,148 traffic crashes were related to distracted driving in 2015. Furthermore, distracted driving crashes killed 463 people, seriously injured more than 3,000 in Texas last year.
