Woman pleads guilty in glass-eating scheme

A woman has pleaded guilty to a scheme in which she and her husband ate glass pieces, then submitted false insurance claims in the District, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Mary Evano pleaded guilty in a Massachusetts federal court to a 23-count indictment that charged her with fraud, conspiracy and related offenses. She is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 21.
