Supreme Court refuses to hear illegal immigrant comp case

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear a case in which a Louisiana employer sought to argue that federal law prohibits paying state-mandated workers compensation benefits to an illegal immigrant. At issue in the case of Vaughan Roofing & Sheet Metal L.L.C. vs. Antonio Garcia Rodriguez was whether the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 trumps state laws that require employers to provide workers comp benefits to injured workers.
